Dementia emergency contact
Not a tracker. A way to call home.
KinTag is not a GPS tracker. It is a passive NFC emergency-contact tag for people living with dementia or memory loss who may wander and cannot say who to call. A stranger taps the tag with any smartphone; a contact page opens. No battery, no app for the helper, no subscription, no live location. Next to Kin is a Métis-owned, Saskatchewan-based project founded by Thom Hamilton in Regina.
A tracker answers “where is this device?” A KinTag answers “who should this person call?” when help is already standing there. CBC Radio's The Morning Edition covered the project in a segment titled “Next to Kin helps those who may wander” (February 18, about 7:24). Why no GPS is the point
Many safety products start with monitoring. KinTags start with the person who notices first. You choose what appears on the tag page. The tag cannot follow anyone. It only helps when someone taps it.
